Eyelid Surgery

Excess, sagging skin of the upper eyelids and/or puffy bags beneath the eyes can be the cause of this drowsy or aged appearance. Upper and lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is a procedure that is designed to correct these issues and provide a natural, more youthful look. Two primary reasons to have eyelid surgery:
  • You are experiencing sagging or drooping of the eyelid
  • You are struggling with puffiness beneath the eyes

How Eyelid Surgery is Performed

Dr. Kramer can perform eyelid surgery to help address various concerns — both sagging upper eyelids and puffiness — and restore the younger looking you. Upper eyelid surgery will require a small incision made in the natural creases of your upper eyelid. From there, Dr. Kramer will remove any excess skin to tighten it and remove any drooping or sagging. To remove puffiness or permanent bags beneath the eyes, lower eyelid surgery will require a discrete incision made in the lower lids. Dr. Kramer will then remove any excess fat, skin or tissue that may be causing the puffy appearance. Your eyelid surgery will be personalized to meet your specific goals and current condition.

Bring Life Back to Your Eyes

One of the most common reasons people consider eyelid surgery is that people often confuse them as being tired or older than they actually are due to the appearance of their eyes. Dr. Kramer will work closely with you to develop a fully personalized treatment plan for your eyelid surgery. He will recommend whether you are best suited for upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, or a combination of both. Eyelid surgery can also be used to correct certain congenital disorders such as ptosis, a condition in which one of the upper eyelids droops downward.

Healing After Eyelid Surgery

Recovery time after eyelid surgery will vary from patient to patient depending on the methods used during your procedure, as well as whether you underwent upper and lower eyelid surgery, or just one of the two. Most of Dr. Kramer’s eyelid surgery patients are able to return to work about a week or two after surgery. You will be able to wear makeup to help conceal any bruising or redness as your skin continues to heal over the following weeks.
