Breast Reduction

Breast reduction is a surgery Dr. Jonathan Kramer performs to reduce the size of overly large breasts and improve the patient’s overall body proportions. You may choose to undergo a breast reduction for physical, functional, or emotional reasons. Primary reasons to have a breast reduction:
  • You wish to alleviate physical pain caused by larger breasts (such as neck, shoulder, or back pain)
  • You are unhappy with the existing proportions of your body due to the larger size of your breasts
  • You have difficulty finding properly fitting clothing
  • You struggle with exercise and other everyday activities due to the size of your breasts

How a Breast Reduction is Performed

During your consultation, Dr. Kramer will analyze the condition of your breasts to determine the cause of their larger size. He will then work with you to develop a personalized breast reduction that will result in a smaller, well-contoured breast size that perfectly complements the rest of your body. There are three common breast reduction incisions: a circular incision around the areola, a lollipop or balloon-shaped incision around the areola and downward, and an anchor-shaped incision around the areola, downward, and then along the breast crease. Dr. Kramer will recommend the right incision for you, based on your current breasts and desired outcome. In order to reduce the size of the breasts, Dr. Kramer will remove excess underlying breast tissue and reshape the breasts to create a firmer, more balanced foundation. Excess skin is then removed, and the remaining skin is pulled tightly over the newly shaped tissues. Liposuction may be performed to eliminate any problem fat remaining in the area.

A Beautifully Proportioned Figure

When the breasts are disproportionately large in comparison to the rest of a woman’s body, it can cause problems with both physical pain and emotional discomfort. Women with overly large breasts also often find it much easier to perform ordinary chores or exercise after their breast reduction. Dr. Kramer has seen the life-changing effect that breast reduction surgery has for women, and makes it a priority to help each patient reach her individual breast reduction goals.

Healing After Breast Reduction Surgery

Your breast reduction recovery will vary based on the techniques used for your surgery with Dr. Kramer. Most women are able to return to work just one week after surgery. Once your breasts are fully healed, they will appear better-fitted to your body’s proportions and will look very natural. Women who have had a breast reduction with Dr. Kramer often experience life-changing benefits, such as improved physical ability, a significant reduction in pain or discomfort, and increased self-confidence.
