Brow Lift

A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, can help to restore your features, giving you a more youthful, refreshed look by removing excess tissue, tightening the skin and repositioning a drooping brow. Two primary reasons to have a brow lift:
  • You have a low sagging brow creating an angry or tired appearance
  • You have excess skin causing “hooding” of the upper eyelid

How a Brow Lift Is Performed

There are several different ways to perform the brow lift operation.  One technique utilizes the use of an endoscope through several small incisions at the temples and in the scalp.  Another technique is the coronal brow lift. This technique involves an incision from ear to ear, across the top of the head lifting the forehead and removing excess skin from the scalp.  A third type of brow lift is a pre-hairline incision brow lift which has the most precision and power to lift the brows. This is especially useful in people with tall foreheads because this also allows shortening of the forehead skin as the brows are lifted.  All of the other procedures tend to lengthen the forehead. The incision lines for all brow lift techniques are generally well concealed within the hair or natural contours of the face.

A Younger, Natural Looking You

The choice of the brow lift technique is very important to the outcome, so Dr. Kramer approaches every brow lift procedure slightly different, making sure that each surgery is tailored to the individual patient’s unique facial structure, specific condition, and cosmetic goals to help achieve the most beautiful and natural looking results. In some cases your brow lift procedure may be performed in combination with eyelid surgery, facelift, or skin resurfacing. Botox® can also be used to soften residual forehead wrinkling for overall facial rejuvenation.

Healing After Brow Lift Surgery

Recovery time after brow lift surgery depends on the technique, typically you may return to work and normal activities after 7-10 days. However, strenuous activity should be avoided for 3 weeks following your brow lift to prevent excessive force, swelling, abrasion, or motion during the time of healing. Bruising and swelling are a normal part of recovery and may persist after two weeks, but it can often be camouflaged with make-up.
