Does CoolSculpting Work?

Woman being treated with Coolsculpting

The answer is yes. CoolSculpting is the premier non-surgical fat-reduction procedure that uses the process of cryolipolysis to freeze and destroy fat cells. CoolSculpting can eliminate stubborn pockets of diet-and-exercise-resistant fat without the need for the anesthesia, incisions, stitches, and extensive downtime that accompanies a procedure such as liposuction.

When Will I Notice CoolSculpting Results?

Unlike liposuction, where your results become immediately apparent once your post-operative swelling is gone, CoolSculpting results take time to appear. This is because your body has to metabolize and filter out the fat cells that were destroyed during your treatment. You will likely start to notice some improvement about 4-6 weeks after your procedure, with the most dramatic results appearing about three to four months.

How Many CoolSculpting Treatments Will I Need?

On average, one CoolSculpting treatment will destroy 20 to 25 percent of the fat cells in the treatment area. However, this varies from patient to patient, depending on the thickness of the fat layer and other individual factors. Some patients may see great results after only one treatment. Most of our patients, however, need between two and four treatments to achieve their optimal outcome. Additional treatments are scheduled after eight weeks if required.

Is CoolSculpting the Right Procedure for Me?

CoolSculpting is an excellent motivator for those who are trying to diet and often an excellent option for those patients who struggle to eliminate areas of fat no matter how much weight they lose. However, it’s essential to understand that CoolSculpting is not a treatment for weight loss. It is a body-sculpting treatment, and it may not be your best option if you want to lose a substantial amount of weight. If you have thicker, denser fat areas or hanging skin, a surgical procedure may work best to achieve your goals.

At Kramer Plastic Surgery, our CoolSculpting experts have years of experience in body contouring evaluation. We were the first practice to introduce CoolSculpting to the Boise area in 2012, and we’re still the only practice in the Treasure Valley that can offer alternative procedures if CoolSculpting is not the right option for you.
