Chin Implant & Chin Reduction Surgery

Chin surgery with Dr. Kramer can be performed to either enhance the shape, size or projection of a small or receding chin, or to reduce the size of a double chin. This facial surgery procedure often helps to improve the overall balance of the complete face. Two primary reasons for chin surgery:
  • You feel your chin is too small or recessed and would like to refine its shape
  • You are struggling with excess fat beneath your chin that is giving the appearance of a double chin

How Chin Surgery is Performed

One of the most common facial implant procedures is the correction of a weak or recessed chin (genioplasty) to help improve facial profile.  Dr. Kramer will place your customized chin implant through a small incision under the chin that is well camouflaged. Improving the shape of the chin can have positive effects on other areas that you might not anticipate. For example, a chin implant helps balance the overall facial structure, add definition to the jaw, and give a well-proportioned look that seems completely natural. Chin reduction surgery is limited to removing the double chin under the jaw by removing the fat either by liposuction surgery or Kybella® injections.  This will work in harmony with a chin implant to lengthen the chin and deepen the angle between your chin and your neck.

Balancing Out Your Appearance

When you look in the mirror, your chin frames the lower half of your face and can significantly influence the way other areas may look in relation to its size. Dr. Kramer will work together with you to develop a personalized chin surgery, whether you are looking to augment or reduce the size of your chin. Dr. Kramer will take the time to carefully observe the existing state of your chin to make recommendations for how to solve your aesthetic concerns. Treating each patient as a unique individual allows Dr. Kramer to achieve remarkably natural-looking chin surgery results that are designed to bring a beautiful balance to his patient’s unique facial appearance.

Healing After Chin Surgery

Recovery time after chin surgery will depend on the specific technique used by Dr. Kramer, and whether you had undergone an augmentation or reduction procedure. Most patients are able to return to work about 1-2 weeks after a chin augmentation. Chin reduction with Kybella often requires little to no recovery time. If liposuction is used for your chin reduction, you should be able to return to work within a week. Dr. Kramer will provide you with details about your specific recovery time following your chin surgery.
