Chemical Peels

Chemical peels work by applying a chemical solution to the skin to remove the outermost damaged layers that can dull your skin’s appearance as you age. They help restore the natural smoothness and vitality of the face and can improve a number of skin conditions including irregular skin pigmentation, rough skin, sun damaged skin, fine lines and wrinkles.

Chemical peels differ by which acids are used and how deeply they penetrate to exfoliate the skin. Certain peels may not be suitable for some skin types, so your complimentary consultation with our Licensed Medical Aesthetician is important to determine which chemical peel is appropriate for you to achieve the best results.

Common Peels Available at Kramer Plastic Surgery:

TCA Chemical Peel

Trichloroacetic Acid, often referred to as TCA, is an effective chemical agent used to exfoliate and renew the skin on a superficial to deep level. TCA is most frequently applied to the face, neck, décolleté, and hands. In addition, TCA is also an excellent “spot treatment” and can be used to exclusively peel isolated areas of the skin.

The benefits of superficial TCA peels are many, but among the most notable is the ability to adjust the depth to fit the skin problem. As more coats are applied, the peel will get deeper, as the solution goes looking for protein to neutralize itself. The long-lasting results make it an ideal peel for those who prefer less peeling sessions at the cost of moderate downtime.

TCA peels provide an aggressive medium chemical exfoliation to reduce melasma , post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, sun damage and post acne scars. It also helps correct and smooth fine surface wrinkles through stimulation of reproductive collagen.

The Perfect Peel™

A five acid blended peel (TCA, Kojic acid, Retinoic acid, Salicylic acid, and Phenol), with Glutathione (an important antioxidant that helps neutralize free radicals), vitamins and minerals. These powerful ingredients help with lifting fine lines and wrinkles and improving the skins overall clarity, tone and texture. It also helps reduce or eliminate hyperpigmentation including melasma. The perfect peel is a medium depth peel that is appropriate for all skin types and ethnicities.

Additional Options

Chemical peels with a more limited downtime are also available based on consultation and evaluation from our licensed providers. Come in for an appointment to learn which peels will be best for your skin concerns.

After Chemical Peel

Specific recommendations and instructions will be provided to help care for your skin post chemical peel based on your skin assessment and the type of peel used. Not all patients will peel, however, the skin will be more sensitive. If you are going to be in the sun avoid direct exposure to the skin and apply sunscreen with at least 9% zinc oxide or titanium dioxide EVERY day rain or shine. Peeling skin should be allowed to slough off naturally, picking or peeling of flaking skin should be avoided as it may lead to scarring. A good skin care regimen will be important to optimize and maintain your results.
