Mommy Makeover

Motherhood is one of the most rewarding — and exhausting — events you’ll ever go through. Experiencing life with your child makes it worthwhile, but when you dedicate every moment to caring for your kid, it can be hard to care for yourself.

At Kramer Plastic Surgery, we understand how difficult it can be to find the time to cook healthy meals or get back to the gym. Even if you do have the time for those activities, they may not be enough to undo the physical changes pregnancy wrought on your body. That’s why we offer the mommy makeover.

The mommy makeover is our answer to the rigors of motherhood. It can help revive your pre-pregnancy body, and more importantly the self-confidence that came with it. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jonathan Kramer can perform a customized mommy makeover to restore your body.

Kramer Plastic Surgery serves Boise and surrounding areas of Idaho. Call (208) 344 4900 today to schedule a consultation.

Benefits Of A Mommy Makeover

Mommy makeovers can correct many of the affects pregnancy and childbirth can have on your body, including:

  • Lost breast volume
  • Sagging breasts
  • Excess fat deposits
  • Loose skin around the abdomen
  • Stretched abdominal muscles

What Is A Mommy Makeover?

Every woman’s body and goals are unique, so every mommy makeover is unique, too. Each consists of a series of procedures designed to help you look the way you want. During your consultation, Dr. Kramer will discuss your aims with you and devise a treatment plan to achieve them.

The procedures most commonly make up a mommy makeover are:

Depending on your body and your goals, you may also want procedures such as a neck lift or chin augmentation to restore a youthful appearance to your face area. Dr. Kramer’s thoughtful and personalized approach to your mommy makeover will have one purpose — to help you achieve the natural-looking results you want.

Am I A Good Candidate For A Mommy Makeover?

To be considered for a mommy makeover, you must:

  • Be done breastfeeding
  • Be close to your ideal body weight

You need to be finished breastfeeding to undergo any type of breast augmentation surgery. Liposuction is much more effective if you’re near your target weight, but need to get rid of a few stubborn fat deposits to get all the way there.

If you plan to have more children in the future, you may want to postpone your mommy makeover. Future pregnancies can have adverse effects on the results of your procedures.

Mommy Makeover Q&A

What’s the benefit of combining procedures?

There are a few benefits. The biggest is that you only need to be placed under anesthesia once and go through a single recovery period. This is especially helpful for busy moms who don’t have the ability to schedule multiple times when they won’t be 100% available for their families. Although the risks of complications can increase with longer surgery times and more procedures, those with a mommy makeover are generally tolerated well.

I recently had a baby, how soon can I have a mommy makeover?

If you are planning to have more children, we advise holding off on this procedure. If you are done having children, you should wait at least three to four months after you have stopped breastfeeding to consider a mommy makeover. Typically, the earliest a mom will have a mommy makeover is about six months after childbirth.

How soon can I get back to my day-to-day routine?

We know it’s tough for busy moms to take time away from their families. The time you need to rest and recover will depend mostly on what types of procedures are included in your mommy makeover. Typically, you should be able to return to caring for your children full-time or working outside the home about two to three weeks after surgery. Strenuous exercise typically needs to be put on hold for about six weeks.

What results can I expect after a mommy makeover?

Because mommy makeovers usually focus on the breasts and abdominal area, the physical improvements are focused on these parts of your body. But for many of our patients, the primary benefit is the improved confidence of looking and feeling more like you did before the effects of pregnancy. With proper diet, exercise and self-care, you can enjoy your pre-baby body for many years to come.
