What Can I Expect from Fraxel®Dual

Going in for a series of FraxelDual laser treatments is something we take seriously.  At Kramer Plastic Surgery all our laser patients are evaluated by Dr. Kramer to make sure they are an appropriate candidate for the Fraxel laser procedure.  In addition our licensed aestheticians are laser certified and work closely with Dr. Kramer to formulate a plan.  We remind our patients that along with the Fraxel procedure itself, the pre and post-care phases are also important.  Here are a few things you can do to get optimal results from your Fraxel Dual treatment.

Before Your FraxelDual Treatment

Before any laser treatment, you will want to make sure your skin is in the best possible condition. A good skincare routine can help optimize your Fraxel Dual results.  Our experience licensed aestheticians can recommend quality products from ZO Skin Health, Epionce, or Neocutis based on your skin evaluation if you don’t already have a good skincare routine.  Before your Fraxel Dual treatment its best to abstain from anything that can cause irritation or swelling of any kind. This includes facial treatments like chemical peels, abrasive facials or products, waxing, or laser hair removal.  In addition Accutane must be avoided for 6 months prior to your Fraxel Dual treatment. A few other helpful tips from Dr. Kramer include:

• Be sure to stay hydrated inside and out
• Avoid things like tanning beds
• Maintain overall good health with a healthy diet and exercise

Dr. Kramer may also ask that you put certain on hold. Dr. Kramer will clarify what medications and supplements should be avoided during your FraxelDual consultation.

For Your FraxelDual Treatment

By promoting cellular renewal, FraxelDual smooths the skin’s surface and evens out hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage and age. With FraxelDual, Dr. Kramer is able to target specific areas of skin damage to deliver maximum results. Fine lines, creases, and wrinkles, mild acne scarring, and large pores are all reduced using FraxelDual. Dull skin is brightened and discoloration is blended with this advanced laser treatment. After FraxelDual, your skin will appear fresh, vibrant, and youthful. On the day of your FraxelDual laser treatment, make sure to:

• Arrive on time
• Wear comfortable clothing
• Do not wear make-up

To ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible, a numbing cream is first applied. The treatment itself takes between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on the area or areas that are being treated.

After Your FraxelDual Treatment

Although FraxelDual is a minimally invasive facial rejuvenation treatment, you will want to plan for your recovery. Most of our Idaho patients describe the post-treatment sensation as sunburn-like. You are also likely to have a light-brown tint and a flaky, hard texture to your skin for about one week. For the first few hours after the procedure, apply ice packs around the treatment area for 5 to 10 minute intervals—it is important that you do not apply any ice or pressure directly to the treated area. Proper aftercare includes:

• Limit your time outside and make sure to stay out of the sun
• Continue to avoid harsh cleansers and exfoliators of any kind
• Generously apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen

The associated redness and swelling will gradually lessen over the next few days. After about one week, the skin will shed and you will have a new, fresher complexion.
