CoolSculpting is a safe and effective way to contour and highlight your figure without the need for surgery. But there are a lot of questions our patients have when it comes to this amazing fat-freezing approach. That’s why we wanted to take a little time to answer some of those questions, so you can feel comfortable and confident in knowing that CoolSculpting is the right treatment for you. CoolSculpting has quickly become the go-to method for shaping and contouring the body for both men and women. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, this type of body-sculpting approach is now performed 30 percent more than traditional liposuction. In 2017 alone, over 356,000 non-invasive fat-removal treatments were conducted in the United States, up seven percent over the previous year. These numbers just go to show how much people love to lose those few pesky pounds without having to choose surgery to do so. CoolSculpting is best for patients who are already pretty close to their weight goals but have some problem spots that aren’t responding to diet and exercise. Keep in mind that CoolSculpting is only intended for use as a body-contouring device and not as a weight-loss treatment. This fat-freezing approach is typically only an option for those who have a body mass index (BMI) under 30. Good candidates are also healthy and without any major medical issues. CoolSculpting can target troublesome pockets of unwanted fatty tissue all over the body, including the: CoolSculpting is a generally well-tolerated treatment. Most patients only report a light pulling sensation as the tissues are suctioned into the device, and a cold feeling as the fat cells are frozen. When the freezing cycle has been completed, the device will be removed and the technician will then massage the treated area to further help in the breaking down of the fat cells. While CoolSculpting does carry some side effects, they are typically mild and rare, and usually fade within days or weeks. Immediately following your session, you’ll likely notice some redness and firmness, temporary whitening and/or mild bruising of the skin around the treatment area, and a tingling or stinging feeling. In the weeks after, there may still be a little redness, bruising, swelling, and numbness. Some individuals also report feeling tenderness, cramping, itching, and aching afterward. CoolSculpting is an amazing way to shape and contour your body without the need for surgery. But that doesn’t mean that it will be you best option for sculpting your body. And the only way to find out is during your personal consultation with Dr. Kramer. For the best results, he may recommend a procedure like Kybella®, liposuction, tummy tuck or other body-contouring options.
