1. Lather Up The Sunscreen
It’s no accident that you’ve probably heard this first tip plenty times before. Sunscreen is important to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. This is especially important for skin that you can’t cover up, like your face when you are hiking.
But what kind is best? According to the National Cancer Society, at least 30 SPF and a broad-spectrum sunscreen will help keep you best protected. Don’t forget to reapply every two hours! Remember that sunscreen not only protects against those embarrassing sunburns, it most importantly is used to prevent skin cancer and premature aging of the skin.
2. Use Sun Friendly Skincare Products
At Kramer Plastic Surgery, we are proud to offer a variety of skincare products to help protect your skin from the sun. The S4 brand stays away from harsh chemicals and is all about exploring year round, hence its name (S4 means sun, surf, sand, and snow). With S4 sun care products, you can be confident in the health and protection of your skin on your next adventure. They offer sunscreen, body lotions, spot lighteners, and aloe products to make sure your skin is always looking fantastic.
We’re also proud to offer ZO Skin Health™ products. Don’t choose between makeup and sunscreen. The Oclipse® Sunscreen + Primer and Oclipse® Smart Tone from ZO allows your skin to look fabulous and be protected. ZO also offers both spray and lotion lightweight sunscreen.
Another favorite skincare line, Epionce®, presents several sunscreen options that many of our clients fall in love with. They offer sunscreen lotions that can be used for a variety of skin types, even sensitive skin. Their Daily Shield Lotion Tinted Sunscreen not only protects your skin from the sun with 50 SPF, but it also helps to even out your skin tone. With this sunscreen, you are able to protect your skin and look great for all of those vacation pictures!
3. Tanning Beds Are No-No’s
We know you want to look fantastic for your upcoming trip or perhaps you just want to make sure you don’t burn while you are in the sun, but tanning beds should be avoided. The skin damage is not worth it! Instead of prematurely aging your skin, try out a self-tanner this summer to get that same skin-kissed glow, without the danger of actually kissing the sun!
4. Check Your Skin Regularly
This is often an overlooked sun care tip, but it is an important one. Checking your skin regularly helps you know what your skin looks and feels like. This way you can be on top of any changes to appearance or size on your skin. Knowing what is normal and most importantly what is not normal can help you catch sun damage quicker and gives you the freedom from second-guessing yourself.
